Governor's Spirit of Service Award

The Governor’s Spirit of Service Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding commitment to serving their communities through volunteerism and leadership. Established in 2010, this award celebrates the spirit of service that strengthens Wyoming communities. Nominations are open to anyone who has made a meaningful impact through volunteer efforts. 

By volunteering, you can gain experience and develop skills all while contributing something meaningful to the community and environment. You’ll gain new perspectives and foster a broader understanding of the impact volunteering has on the lives around you.

Whether you’re looking for personal growth, adding value to a resume, expanding your skills, or making a positive impact in Wyoming, you can find all of it and more in volunteering. Recipients of the Governor’s Spirit of Service awards are honored for their dedication and contributions to others.  Winners receive public recognition, opportunities for networking and community storytelling, and lasting acknowledgment of their service impact. Being selected highlights a legacy of compassion and leadership that inspires others to get involved.

FAQ’s

Can you nominate a person?

Yes! Anyone can nominate an individual, team, or organization whose volunteer service deserves recognition. Self-nominations are also welcome.  Hours of service must be validated by a volunteer coordinator/supervisor.

Volunteer time is verified through supporting documentation or confirmation from the benefiting organization(s). Nominees may be asked to provide contact information for verification.

Award winners will be announced in Spring 2026 following the review of all nominations.

Yes, honorees will be recognized during the annual awards ceremony in the spring, where they will be celebrated among peers and community leaders

Winners receive a commemorative plaque and public recognition through Serve Wyoming’s website, newsletter, and media channels.
