Gabi, is a Student Service Learner attending Casper College. Gabi served with the MLK/WY Equality Day-Casper Freedom Trail Project. This project provided Gabi the opportunity to meet some of Casper’s most respected community members capturing oral histories from civil rights leaders and mapping the rich black history of Natrona County and surrounding areas. This experienced shined a light on the influence of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s work in the area and the continued work of those who continue the civil rights work begun by Dr. King.
“I remember the first meeting we had as a committee and I was a little—well, nervous. It was all new to me. Being on a committee this large, having been assigned a role, and interacting and working with some of Casper’s most well-known and respected people, of course, I was going to be nervous. However, I had no need to be because I had the most amazing experience.”
